Problem
- Padvish Device Control does not allow HP LaserJet 1102 Printer to work. What should I do? This device is detected as CDROM and until the CDROM is not open, there will be no print.
Solution
This is the case with HP 11xx Series printers for a variety of software DLPs, including Padvish.
The reason is that the driver of these printers checks their CDROM virtual device connection and assumes that the printer is not connected to the system and does not allow printing if there is no connection.
Detailed Explanation:
These printers like most other models, introduce some different devices to the system when installed. For instance, a printer/scanner may connect devices such as a printer, scanner, CDROM, and Flash Drive. For installing the printer driver, CDROM and Flash Drive will be used. In these series of HP printers, the printer driver uses CDROM connection/disconnection to recognize whether the device is connected, instead of testing the printer connection itself.
First Solution- updating the printer driver
Since this happened for any type of software DLPs, the printer manufacturer updated its driver and fix this problem.
To update, you can refer to the HP website and download the latest version of the printer driver.
Second Solution- excluding printer in Padvish
You can exclude the printer CDROM device in the Padvish Device Control tab if updating the printer driver is not possible or is hard due to the extent of clients.
For this you can use these two methods:
- Finding and excluding all relevant CDROMs, using Trusted Devices in the Device Control tab. This is a safer and simplest way, but the problem is you need to repeat all these processes if a system with a printer connects to your client group later.
- Use exclusion based on Vendor ID and Product ID (check this method here). In this method, CDROMs are excluded based on the Vendor ID and Product ID and also apply automatically, if a new printer of this type connects to your client group later.
